Wood iPhone camera case in walnut or bamboo, for $42
Love the idea and look of this case from Photojojo, though I sort of like my iPhone to look like an iPhone (hence the clear case I’ve been using for a while).

Photojojo founder says company sells out of iPhone SLR mount

Photojojo recently introduced an SLR mount for the iPhone camera (at the hefty pricetag of $249), and apparently the company’s already sold out of them. How many have been sold? A number “in the low hundreds,” says Amit Gupta, the company’s founder and president, in a Q&A with the Wall Street Journal.

I love PhotoJojo, and the Q&A provides some interesting info about how the company started out by selling ads and then gravitated toward selling products, including ones it creates or customizes on its own.

Here’s what Gupta says about the iPhone camera:

The iPhone is phenomenal. I’m a hobbyist photographer. I started taking more photos with the iPhone than a regular camera. I kind of have a love-hate relationship with it. I love cameras and having control. But it’s so convenient to have this thing in your pocket. The iPhone before and other cellphone cameras were kind of crappy. The iPhone 4 has a pretty decent camera. For everyday purposes, for most people documenting or recording what’s happening, it’s perfect.

Read the full Q&A.

And: If you’ve bought one of these, I’d be interested in hearing about it. Please post in the comments or contact me.

iPhone SLR mount: Turn your iPhone into a dSLR with SLR lenses
So my PhotoJojo newsletter arrives with this subject line: “Secret Preview — the iPhone SLR Mount.”
I thought for a moment: It’s not April Fool’s Day, is it?
No, it’s for real, apparently, and it’ll cost you: $249 for the iPhone 4 version.
I don’t know. For me, attaching a big SLR lens to my iPhone would take some of the fun away from iPhoneography. It certainly would make the whole experience a lot more cumbersome (and it’d sure be a challenge to take a phone call, I’m guessing). For SLR capabilities with my iPhone, I’d  rather go for the new wireless Eye-Fi card, which lets you transfer dSLR photos automatically to an iPhone.

PhotoJojo: Entrepreneurs, robotics engineers and others choose their favorite iPhoneography apps

Great feature from PhotoJojo, with quick app recommendations from the likes of Doctor Popular (I interviewed him not long ago), Chris Messina of Google, Kevin Systrom of Instagram, and a bunch of others.

What apps do they like? A lot of the usual suspects, like Hipstamatic and Instagram, but some surprises, too. Check it out.
