OC Register: Transforming the iPhone into a professional camera

This article focuses on the Olloclip and the Mophie Powerstation. The write took the video of a snail.

Nick Bilton covers the iPhone accessories trend in the Times

As Bilton notes: “Companies are producing dozens of inexpensive smartphone attachments that can easily convert a mobile phone into a mini-professional camera. These products include zoom, fisheye and ultra-up-close macro lenses — all designed to snap onto a smartphone and make photos look as if they were shot with an expensive single-lens reflex camera. And for the most part, they are easy to use.”

The article covers the Glif, the Olloclip, etc.

Macgasm calls the Olloclip “the perfect lens set for every iPhoneographer”

Macgasm has a terrific, detailed review of the Olloclip. Here’s what Susan Pigott says about it:

The photographs you can take with your Olloclip will simply amaze you. The wide-angle gives your iPhone a much wider range of view. The fisheye allows you to take some wonderfully unique shots. But the macro lens is my favorite, probably because I do so much macro photography with my DSLR.

She’s got some beautiful photos taken with the lens. Check out the review at Macgasm.

Engadget: Rave review for Olloclip three-in-one iPhone 4 lens
Wow, this sounds very cool, especially because of its macro capabilities:

We were perhaps most impressed with the macro lens, which essentially functions as a very powerful magnifying glass for your iPhone. We were able to capture incredible detail with this lens. In a photo we shot of our high-density notebook display, we could clearly make out individual red, green, and blue pixels. This capability alone is enough to justify the expense of adding the Olloclip, especially for anyone who enjoys macro photography but doesn’t have the luxury of having a pro kit nearby at all times.
