What I See Now

Today I’m starting a new project: 100 Photo Apps.

The idea is simple: Over the next 100 days, I’ll post 100 photos using 100 different iPhone camera and photography apps. I’m thinking of this 100 Photo Apps project as a way to show off the best apps and also highlight what’s possible with iPhone photography and the iPhone camera.

What’s the impetus? Well, with the publication of my book, Create Great iPhone Photos, I’ve realized two things:

1. There are still lots of people with iPhones who haven’t really explored iPhone photography. Sure, they use the camera, but they don’t really realize there’s a whole world of apps for expanding the iPhone camera’s capabilities, editing photos, and for sharing their images. When they see what’s possible, they’re really wowed.
2. Even many iPhone photography enthusiasts stick with several apps, but they’re always eager to check out others.

So this project—100 Photo Apps—will be a way to show off a lot of the possibilities of iPhone photography.

Some assorted points:

• Part of the fun of iPhone photography can be using multiple apps, but for this project I’ll stick with photos using just one app.
• The idea will be to give a quick sense of what’s possible with the app (and iPhone photography), rather than provide anything approximating a review of the app. Of course, Create Great iPhone Photos includes in-depth info and tutorials about many apps. And for online reviews, check out the iPhoneography blog and Life in Lofi—both excellent resources.
• I won’t be ranking apps or posting these in any particular order.
• I’ll use quite a few photos from Create Great iPhone Photos, but I’ll also use new ones and contributions from other iPhone photographers.
